Creativity

Analysis of what I learned:

This project has really helped me be able to make connections with what I learned in class to one of my hobbies baking. I really enjoy baking but I normally stick to recipes my friends give me or from Betty Crocker. This project has helped me realize I can creatively express myself within my hobby and develop new recipes. Now I can be the friend who shares their recipe with others.
I learned that creativity is a mindset. At first I believed I was not creative and had no idea how I could develop a creative project. After one of Dr. Strong's classes, I learned that if I believe I am creative things will come. I did just that. I know that it takes thinking outside the box to develop new  creative recipes. I also learned that it may be necessary to take risks when developing something creative. At first its hard to come up with a new recipe because if it turns out wrong then you just wasted lots of money and food. But I think you need to take risks when you are being creative or else you will never improve or succeed. I also learned that it is easier to take risks when you know some technical aspects. For example, it was a little easier the second and third time I came up with a new recipe. I knew they would turn out well because I had been baking for many years and now had experience with experimenting. When I go into industry and want to be creative in my career, being able to be creative comes because you know the basics of the technical aspects.
This project has also helped me be more creative because I had to learn how to use HTML to program my website. It was difficult at first but now that I understand the language I can be more creative. I learned that sometimes when you want to display big C creativity you may need to learn new skills. Your new skills can then be used to influence people outside your small circle of friends and family.

Why project valued as being creative beyond my own creative experience:

Even though I learned a lot for myself, it is important for my project to influence other. I was able to be creative and make up recipes that actually taste really good. I built a recipe blog which I will share on facebook and the blogging world so everyone can follow and benefit from great new desserts. I think many people enjoy delicious desserts which is one reason I chose this project. I love making people happy. When people can make and taste these delicious dessert it will affect not just me but many others. Because my desserts are linked to people/periods in history, people who visit my blog can also learn something new about history.
Also this should be valued as Big C creativity because this project has multiple layers of creativity. First I started off thinking about people in history and how I could quantify them into a dessert. I added ingredients into my recipes that were linked to people/periods in history. Then I had family and friends comment and vote on if they could perceive my creative intuition. I did this to make sure my project was big C creativity. Other people can now recognize what I have accomplished. I then expanded my creative circle to include everyone and wrote a blog about my findings and ideas for desserts and history. As you can see I started with myself, then moved to a larger circle of influence including my friends and family and then continued to an even larger circle to make my project big C creativity. In order to make my blog interesting to everyone, (others) I made my blog have interesting facts and widgets on the sidebars. Also I included funny commentary and mad fun pancake pictures of the people I was representing in history.  I developed my blog to be a fun place to visit so many people will enjoy and benefit from it. As well I made each blog entry funny so people would be interested in the history background associated with each dessert.
